Analysis and Reuse of the Fine Waste of a Residual Solid Treatment Plant of a Concrete Company to Prepare a Mortar with Hydraulic CementThe purpose of the investigation is the use of a residual material through its recovery in a concrete mixer located in the town of Ixtaczoquitlan, Ver., Mexico, to make a recycled hydraulic mortar of f´c 70 kg/cm2 for masonry works, providing sustainability to the concrete mixer and to determine its compressive strength compared to a normal mortar. The methodology consists of the recovery of a sample of fine waste of concrete from the treatment plant in CAGSA (Constructoras Asociadas del Golfo S. A. de C. V.), to dry it, classify it and then make mixtures with % fine waste-% mine sand (in a percentage ratio of 10%-90%, 20%-80%, 30%-70%, 40%-60%, 50% -50% and 60% -40%), as well as, water and cement, to later compare the results against a sample control and evaluate its compressive strengths. The results of compatibility with the other materials that make up the mortar are favorable and benefit its homogeneity and fluidity. The best compression strengths are mixtures at 10% -90%, and 20% -90%. In conclusion, this residue is compatible with the materials that make up the mortar and can be used to glue partitions and masonry plaster. Within the new and relevant aspects of the study is confirmation of the use of a new mortar from fine concrete waste, mixed with andesite-type mine sand, strengthening the sustainability of the environment. It was investigated that the analyzed residues contain 90% of Calcium, which is used in the manufacture of accelerating additives for concrete, based on calcium chloride. It can be a raw material to make additives that accelerate resistance. Follow-up research is recommended regarding the slump test, fluidity, compressive strength, consistency, and water retention of this type of mortar with fine recycled aggregate.
Solid waste management becomes a great problem now-a-days. Rapidly growing population is responsible for producing large amount of solid wastes. To develop an efficient solid waste management system the existing scenario of solid waste of a city should be known which enables to find out the problems happening regarding mismanagement of solid waste within the city. Cox’s Bazar is a well-known tourist spot both in home & abroad. As a tourist spot different types of solid wastes produced everyday by the people living in the city as well as the people coming to visit it. Low collection coverage, unavailable transport services, and lack of suitable treatment, recycling and disposal facilities are responsible for unsatisfactory waste management, leading to water, land and air pollution, and for putting people and the environment at risk. In such a circumstance this study has intended to unfold the institutional dimensions of solid waste management including the types & amount of wastes produced in this city and to identify solid waste management problems. A field survey has conducted to identify the current scenario of solid waste management system in Cox’s Bazar. It helps to identify the problems regarding solid waste management system which helps in this study to give some recommendations to improve the solid waste management system of Cox’s Bazar.

Toe Environmental Protection Agency was established in 1993 to license, regulate and control activities for the purposes of environmental protection. In Section 60 of the Environmental Protection Agency Act, 1992, it is stated that "the Agency may, and shall if so directed by the Minister, specify and publisñ criteria and procedures, which in the opinion of the Agency are reasonable and desirable for the purposes of environmental protection, in relation to the management, maintenance, supervision, operation or use of ali or specified classes ofplant, sewers or drainage pipes vested in or controlled or used by a sanitary authority for the ..... treatment or disposal of any sewage or other effluent to any waters ". Criteria and procedures in relation to the treatment and disposal of sewage are being published by the Agency in a number of manuals under the general heading: 'Waste Water Treatment Manuals'. Where criteria and procedures are published by the Agency, a sanitary authority shall, in the performance of its functions, have regard to them. This manual on Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Treatment sets out the general principies and practices which should be followed by those involved in the treatment of urban waste water. It provides criteria and procedures for the · proper managernent, maintenance, supervision, operation and use of the processes and equipment required for the secondary treatment of wastewater. Toe Agency hopes that it will provide practica) guidance to those involved in plant operation, use, managernent, maintenance and supervision. Where reference in the document is made to proprietary equipment, this is intended as indicating equipment type and is not to be interpreted as endorsing or excluding any particular manufacturer or system. The Agency welcomes any suggestions which users of the manual wish to make. These should be retumed to the Environmental Management and Planning Division at the Agency headquarters on the enclosed User Comrnent Form.
